University of Mary Jazz Festival
University of Mary presents the 48th annual Jazz Festival January 28–30, 2021. While we cannot have an on campus festival this year we are very excited to have our first ever virtual Jazz Festival.
Jazz Festival Performing Ensembles:
- Your ensemble will be scheduled in a 3.5 hour block. Your block will include three ensembles, three guest adjudicators, and one guest clinician. Your students have the opportunity to experience four renowned artists during your block.
- Your group will have a 45-minute performance and workshop session with one adjudicator. You then get to watch two other groups perform and work with two other adjudicators. In order to create an engaging experience for your students, we will do our best to group like ensembles.
- In addition to the performance/workshop sessions, you will have a 45-minute interactive clinic with an additional guest artist followed by a Q-A session with your students and clinicians.
Jazz Festival Clinic Participants
For those schools that do not have a performing ensemble this year, we are offering a separate registration for you to be able to listen to the different clinics throughout the festival. Times and links will be posted at the beginning of January, and you will be able to register for individual events.
The University of Mary Jazz Festival was founded in 1974 by Ernie Borr. It has become an honored tradition for the University of Mary Music Department and the Bismarck/Mandan community.
