Fall 2026 | SCETL Course List

Funded by the Arizona Legislature and formed in 2017, the School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership at Arizona State University debates the large questions that loom over society and shape our conception of the common good. SCETL engages these questions through Socratic dialogue, studying the great figures of Western literature and philosophy from throughout history as well as the American founders and leaders who have shaped our particular nation and culture.

In 2012, the University of Mary partnered with Arizona State University to create Mary College at ASU, a domestic exchange program enabling our students to take advantage of the opportunities and resources of the nation’s largest public research university. ASU offers world-class faculty, facilities, and resources; a vast course catalog; and diverse perspectives both within and outside the classroom. This additional breadth of experience is invaluable, especially for students interested in civic life and public service.
