About Me

Growing up in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., during Watergate, I was immersed in journalism early as the son of a career broadcaster. The search for truth felt like a calling. After returning to North Dakota in the 1970s, I spent 16 years in radio and television as an assignment editor, anchor, and reporter, covering my two passions: news and sports. Often working solo, I carried my own camera, notepad, and microphone, driven by curiosity and a desire to tell meaningful stories. Along the way, I received recognition from the Associated Press and the North Dakota Broadcasters Association — but the pursuit of truth never ended when the camera stopped rolling.

In 2000, seeking a more sustainable rhythm for family life, I transitioned into media relations at the University of Mary. There, at this private Catholic university, I encountered truth not only reported but lived. Today, I serve as the university’s primary media contact, sharing the stories of our students, faculty, and alumni with local, regional, and national audiences. I was honored to receive the Outstanding Staff and Faculty Award (2006–07) and the Servant Leadership Award (2025), affirming my role in advancing Mary’s mission.

Faith, family, and storytelling remain at the heart of who I am. Outside of work, I enjoy staying active, competing in fantasy football leagues, relaxing out in the yard, grilling, baking cheesecakes, landscape photography, and traveling with my wife, Jill, and our three children.

Why I’m At Mary

Here, I have the opportunity not only to strengthen my relationship with God, but also to witness the incredible transformation of our students—watching them succeed in the classroom, in competition, and as alumni making a difference in the world.
