About Me

I oversee the global studies program, which offers our students the opportunity to study at our campuses in both Rome and Arizona and on faculty-led trips in the summer. I also work alongside the Enrollment Office to engage prospective international students and then support those who choose to come and be a part of our Mary community.

I teach in the political science department, where we love to ask the big questions about what it means for people to live well together. I teach responsible citizenship and, in the past, have taught comparative politics, the politics of Africa, and insurgency and state failure.

Why I’m At Mary

What kind of education prepares you for the best and happiest life?

I'm at the University of Mary because it takes this question seriously. It is a community dedicated to the education of the whole person. Here you will learn not just how to excel in your profession but how to live an excellent life!

Expertise

My research is in comparative politics and political theory. I study the historical evolution of the state and the concept of sovereignty in international law and practice. I am concerned with the consequences of sovereignty for state capacity and order in the world's most fragile states, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa.
