About Me

I am a social and religious historian of the medieval Mediterranean world who teaches in the history program. As a teacher and scholar, I enjoy introducing students to the complexities of the medieval period, conducting manuscript and archival research, and grappling with problems in Latin paleography.

Why I’m At Mary

The University of Mary offers students a unique opportunity to pursue truth and excellence in a community prioritizing service to others. It is an honor to participate in this mission.

Expertise

My research focuses on the Knights Hospitaller in late medieval Italy, the Republic of Venice, and the later crusades.

Obedience and Authority in the Late Medieval Hospital: Leonardo Buonafede’s Translation of the Regula Monacharum,” in Hospitallers and Others: Military and Social Encounters, edited by Maria Bonet, Julia Pavón, and Christie Majoros (Routledge) (forthcoming)
