Tony Ertel joins the Residence Life Team, all the way from Gaming, Austria! After graduating from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2008 with a Bachelor's Degree in History, Tony gained some great life experience as an electrician, Census Worker, Commercial Fisherman in Alaska, and missionary in Ecuador. After those two years split between the workforce and the mission field, Tony returned to Franciscan University to serve as a Residence Director for its Austria Study Abroad Program. While living with, travelling with, and serving college students in Europe, Tony found in Student Life, a great match for both his interpersonal gifts and his desire of building up young men and women to lives of virtue and joy.
As the new Assistant Director of Student Life, Tony looks forward to working with the other members of Student Life, getting to know the students, and building a stronger community through the various facets of Student Development. He is especially excited about getting to know the residents of Boyle Hall where he will be living and diving back into the books as he begins the University of Mary’s Masters in Business Program.
Tony is a native of Indiana and is accustomed to the slower pace of country life. He is the 4th of 7 children and greatly enjoys spending time with family and friends. Tony's particular interests include sports (especially basketball and outdoor sports), listening to music, reading, and prayer. Tony is grateful to God for all of the gifts in his life, especially the opportunity to serve the University of Mary.
