Marauders Women's Basketball Gains Commitment from Mia Gilreath

Bismarck, ND - University of Mary women's basketball coach Fred Fridley has added a third player to the 2010 recruiting class, today announcing the addition of Omaha, NE, native Mia Gilreath. Transferring from Southwest Baptist University, Gilreath will have two years of eligibility at U-Mary and will be immediately eligible to compete for the Marauders while she pursues her academic interests.

A 5-foot-11 forward with the ability to play out on the wing, Gilreath averaged 2.8 points and 2.3 rebounds as a sophomore at SBU in 2009-10 while starting 11 of the 26 games she played. As a freshman for the Bearcats, Gilreath started 21 of her 28 games and averaged 8.9 points and 3.1 rebounds. Southwest Baptist is an NCAA Division II member competing in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

Gilreath graduated from Burke High School in Omaha, NE, in 2008, where she earned all-metro and all-state honors. An honor roll and National Honor Society member in high school, Mia is the daughter of Rita and Ivan Gilreath. She plans to pursue degrees in physical therapy and psychology at the University of Mary.

"Mia is a long, athletic player who can play multiple positions on the floor, from the wing to small forward," commented Fridley. "Offensively she can both shoot the three and finish in traffic. She is also a good shut-down defender who can guard anyone from a shooting guard to post players. We're looking forward to Mia joining the Marauders."

Joining Gilreath as newcomers to the Marauders this fall is Kaitlyn Haag, a post player from Hudson, WI, and Janelle Rust, a guard/wing player from Elbing, KS. Haag and Rust are incoming freshmen.
