Feiler, Hellrung Named to NSCAA Women's Academic All-Central Region Honorable Mention Team

Bismarck, ND - University of Mary student-athletes Carly Feiler and Megan Hellrung were named to the 2009 National Soccer Coaches Association America Women's Scholar All-Central Region honorable mention team. A native of Pierre, SD, and an Elementary Education major, Feiler compiled a 3.86 grade point average. The senior goalkeeper, who also earned Northern Sun All-Academic honors, started 18 of U-Mary's 21 games and was the goalkeeper of record in all Marauders victories. She recorded nine shutouts on the season, finished with a record of 9-6-3 and posted a .73 goals against average and an .811 save percentage. Saving possibly her best game for last, Feiler made 13 saves while shutting out Minnesota State in a 0-0 tie to open the NSIC tournament. MSU advanced in the tournament by winning the subsequent shootout. A nursing major, Hellrung has a 3.45 grade point average and also earned a spot on the NSIA All-Academic team. The junior defender from Arvada, CO, finished second on the team with four goals and nine points and had two game-winning goals for U-Mary. A third goal tied a contest. Two of her goals were on free kicks, including a golden goal with five seconds left in overtime of a 2-1 win over Augustana. The other two goals came off corner kicks. To be nominated for consideration, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout their career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member; be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution and either be in their second year at the current school if a transfer student. #marauders#
