The University of Mary Worldwide today announces that the Project Management Institute (PMI), the world's largest project management member association, has named it as a Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.) effective immediately. R.E.P.s are organizations that have been approved by PMI to help project managers achieve and maintain the Project Management Professional (PMP)®, Program Management Professional (PgMP)® and other PMI professional credentials. These organizations have met PMI's rigorous quality criteria for course content, instructor qualification, and instructional design.
Project managers are increasingly turning to R.E.P.s for certification training and maintenance, especially since median salaries for the profession now exceed $100,000 (USD).
"Achieving the REP designation from PMI is very exciting," commented Dr. Jim Long, chair of graduate and distance education in the Gary Tharaldson School of Business at the University of Mary. "This designation will open up new channels for marketing both continuing education and our project management degree at the University of Mary. More importantly, this recognition shows the validity of our curriculum as well as the strength of our faculty. The University of Mary is the only REP in North Dakota. Other REPs include Arizona State University, Loyola University, Rutgers, and Villanova."
In keeping with mission of PMI to provide knowledge and education throughout the community, the University of Mary has also partnered with the newly established PMI-MN Outreach Center located in Bismarck. The two have collaborated to present project management expert Joe Perzel on Sept. 17, 2103, in Chick's Place at the Leach Center for Student Life. The evening, which is free and open to the public, begins with a light dinner at 5:30 p.m. and Perzel's presentation at 6:30 p.m.
University of Mary Worldwide joins more than 1,500 R.E.P.s in more than 80 countries. These organizations include commercial training providers, academic institutions, and corporate training departments within corporations and government agencies.
Mary is recognized nationally as one of the most affordable private universities in the country. It was founded in 1959 by the Benedictine Sisters of the Annunciation and is North Dakota's only Catholic university. Mary offers programs at 19 sites in seven states, through the University of Mary Worldwide, as well as the new campus in Rome, Italy. U-Mary offers undergraduate degrees in more than 50 majors, 10 master's degrees, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, as well as 16 NCAA varsity sports to its students.
