From its annual Spring Band Concert in March to comic opera, choir, chamber music, ensemble, and steel band performances in April, the University of Mary has something for everyone's musical taste coming up! All concerts are free and open to the public.
Sunday, March 24: Spring Band Concert
3 p.m. - Our Lady of the Annunciation Chapel, University of Mary
The 2013 University of Mary Spring Band Concert will showcase several exciting works from a variety of world-renowned composers. The program will include a wind version of the Largo from Dvořák's "New World Symphony," American Overture by Joseph Willcox Jenkins, and the recently popular Machu Picchu from the pen of Japanese composer Satoshi Yagisawa. There also will be an excerpt from Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture, "Fanfare pour précéder "La Péri" by Paul Dukas, and Ralph Hultgren's untamed "Whirr, Whirr, Whirr."

A one-act comic opera about greedy relatives seeking to "revise" a will, performed by the University of Mary Vocal Arts Ensemble. Free and open to the public
Saturday, April 13: Chamber Ensemble Concert
11 a.m., Kirkwood Mall
The Chamber Music Concert features a wide variety of ensembles and music, showcasing smaller student ensembles such as Percussion Ensemble, String Ensemble, Sax Quartet, Brass Ensemble, Trumpet Ensemble and Trombone Trio. Chamber music developed from entertainment in people's homes, and provides opportunities to feature the individual musicians, as the music is often one person per part.
Sunday, April 14: Choir Concert
3 p.m., Our Lady of the Annunciation Chapel
The U-Mary Spring Choir Concert features a variety of music, including Mozart's mini-masterpiece "Regina Coeli" and "The Unclosed Ring," a set of three works by Latvian composer Juris Karlsons. Four chamber groups will be conducted by student conductors Jordan Boehm, Amber Olson, Krystal Laskowske, Caitlin Nicks, Clayton Perala, Craig Goettle, and Nikkita Starr. A special feature of the concert will be the premieres of two student compositions, "Ave Maria" by Leven Zuelke (a senior from Miles City, MT), and "Ignis Divine" by Jordan Boehm (a junior from Mandan, ND).
Thursday, April 25: Steel Band Concert
7:30 p.m., Arno Gustin Hall
Join the U-Mary Steel Band for their spring concert. Music will include a variety of Caribbean, classical, heavy metal, pop, and the premiere of a new composition by David Sorenson, '15.
Saturday, April 27: Arno Gustin Hall- U-Mary Percussion Ensemble and Honor Percussion Ensemble
3 p.m., Arno Gustin Hall
Join the University of Mary Percussion Ensemble for their Spring Concert. The event will include music by Steve Reich, Lou Harrison, Patrick Long, and others. The U-Mary Honor Percussion Ensemble, an auditioned group consisting of top high school percussionists from central North Dakota, will be featured at the concert.
