BISMARCK, ND - The University of Mary's Campus Read program raised over $2,200 for the Bismarck Cancer Center. The Center, a cooperative venture between St. Alexius Medical Center and Medcenter One, provides the highest quality radiation treatment to cancer patients in the area. The Campus Read committee chose the center, a remarkable organization that takes all patients regardless of their ability to pay, because its mission is directly related to this past year's read. In this case The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, the story of one woman's amazing contribution to cancer research provided the inspiration. Of the many fundraisers on campus, the biggest involved the selling of blossoms to honor the memory of those whose lives have been touched by cancer.
