One of U-Mary's Own Returns from the Bright Lights of Broadway

Bismarck, ND - New York City, Broadway Vocal Coach William Demaniow, will present a solo concert "Notes from NYC: the Sound of The City's Indie Theater," at 7 p.m., on Thursday, April 14, 2011, in Heskett Hall, Clairmont Center for the Performing Arts, on the campus of the University of Mary. Demaniow will also present a master Class "Living the Lyric" on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Heskett Hall. Both the concert and master class are free and open to the public.

A native of Stanley, ND, Demaniow attended the University of Mary before transferring to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC, where he graduated with a Certificate of Completion in singing, acting and dancing. He is a recipient of The National Community Theatre Association's Special Recognition Award for Acting Excellence. William is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy (Van Cliburn Award).

Demaniow divides his time as a vocal repertoire coach, actor, singer, songwriter, composer, pianist and music director. Although he loves coaching all styles of vocal music, Demaniow specializes in contemporary musical theater and rock/pop, and has a knack for finding a contemporary sound in a classically trained voice. His clients have appeared in numerous national/international tours and regional theaters, and in over 30 Broadway productions including Memphis, A Little Night Music, Rock of Ages, Fela!, Hairspray, The Wedding Singer, Curtains, Shrek: The Musical, Spamalot, Company, Gypsy, Mamma Mia!, Les Misérables, and the upcoming Anything Goes and Little Miss Sunshine.

His clients say of him…

"… Working with William is like having a vocal coach and an acting coach rolled into one. He makes sure the intentions of whatever character I'm auditioning for are made clear with every note I sing. He doesn't encourage you to sound pretty; he encourages you to sound authentic. This is why I recommended him to everyone. - Tracee Beazer (Broadway casts of Memphis, Hairspray, The Wedding Singer and Good Vibrations)

-MORE-

"… He is a rare find, and I visit him now before every audition. With William, you don't just stand there and sing. You are performing the piece as you would for the audition, using the space and presenting the song as you would in the audition room. His advice on acting, character, and body language is as thorough and inspired as his understanding of vocal production, style, phrasing, and overall musicality. What separates him from other coaches I have worked with is that he sees the whole picture. It is no coincidence that I have had the most successful year of my auditioning life, thanks to William."

- Bradley Dean (Singers Forum private voice technique, Broadway casts of A Little Night Music, Spamalot, Company, Man of La Mancha, The Story of My Life and Jane Eyre.)

Demaniow could last be seen providing assistant music direction for the Equity Staged Reading of Bobby Cronin's new musical Daybreak, for which he was also the performance pianist. As an actor/singer, he was last seen as himself in his autobiographical musical play Aimless at the Theatre Row complex. Recently William made his Off-Broadway debut singin' in the choir in Church at The Public Theater (UTR Fest.). He has also appeared in the productions of Kiss Me Kate and On the Town with The Staten Island Philharmonic, and as Dennis Shepard and Harry Woods in The Laramie Project (Small Pond Prod.). One of William's proudest moments was co-creating and serving as music director for the benefit series Cabaret Revolution!:WillyD and the Fam Give Back at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre.
