Humanities: Music Department

The University of Mary Department of Music is committed to musical excellence. Students develop as performers, teachers, composers, music ministers, conductors, and scholars under the guidance of 17 artist-level faculty members. Opportunities to perform abound, from participation in over 15 ensembles to studio labs, perform labs, master classes, outreach events and tours. Over 75 concerts and recitals occur on campus every year, in addition to several festivals. Performing groups tour within the state and regionally. Every year, several artists of international renown present performances, lectures, clinics, workshops and master classes. Graduates hold prominent positions in education, performance, music ministry, and conducting in the U.S. and Canada. The Music Department will continue its position of musical prominence and excellence in the region well into the future.

The Music Department supports four undergraduate majors (B.A. Music, B.A. Sacred Music, B.S. Music Education, and B.M. Music Performance) as well as an academic minor in music for students pursuing a major in another discipline. Dozens of students from every discipline participate in ensembles and applied music lessons, greatly enhancing their undergraduate experience.
