Saturday, Oct. 13: Fins and Feathers Baseball Fundraiser
Check-in, 4 p.m., DJ's Lounge, Lincoln
Enjoy what North Dakota's great outdoors has to offer while supporting Marauders baseball. Individual and team competition in fins, feathers and "hook, hunt and harvest" North Dakotan categories. Entry fee of $30 per person or $100 per team of up to four members includes supper and door prizes. Participants are encouraged to pre-register by returning the completed registration form and entry fee to Coach Joel Barta. All teams that pre-register will be included in a drawing for a Les Kouba waterfowl print. There also will be on-site registration at DJ's 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., the day of the event. More>>

U-Mary graduate physical therapy students are hosting the 7th annual Home Run Heroes series for students in grades K-12 with moderate to severe physical disabilities. Specifically designed for students unable to participate in summer recreational baseball leagues due to safety concerns or physical needs such as braces, walkers, or wheelchairs, the event offers the chance for every child participating to play in a fun and friendly environment. Following the games, participants and families are invited to enjoy a social time with snacks. Sunday, Oct. 28: 2012 Fall Band Concert
3 p.m., Our Lady of the Annunciation Chapel
This season-opening performance features some classic works for winds and percussion, as Dennis Gowen, conductor, begins his second quarter-century as director of bands and brass. The program will include "Children's March: Over the Hills and Far Away" by Australian composer Percy Aldridge Grainger, "Gandalf" (Mvmt. 1 from "Lord of the Rings") by Johan de Meij, and "Dance of the Jesters" by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The four-movement gypsy-inspired composition "Puszta" by Jan van der Roost is also slated for performance, as is the new John Mackey work "Sheltering Sky" and "Rhosymedre" by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Rounding out the performance will be the Henry Mancini favorite, "Pie in the Face Polka," featuring the clarinet section. Come join the University Concert Band for this invigorating performance. Friday, Nov. 9: Free Steel Band And Jazz Ensemble Concert
7:30 p.m., Belle Mehus Auditorium
The U-Mary Jazz Ensemble and Steel Band will be joining forces for the second time this year to present a concert. Each group will perform a set and then come together to close the concert. Guest pianist Michael Land will also be featured.

There will be an extra chill in the air as the University of Mary presents "Grave Lullaby, A Ghost Story," a spine-tingling original play, written and directed by U-Mary professor Jamieson Ridenhour and brought to the stage by a cast and crew of U-Mary students, alum and faculty. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for seniors and non-U-Mary students, free to U-Mary students with Mcard. Call 355-8262 to reserve. Due to content, this play is recommended for ages 13 and up. More>>
Saturday, Nov. 17: Concert For Kids and Fall Chamber Ensemble Concert
Concert For Kids, 11 a.m., and Fall Chamber Ensemble Concert, 3 p.m., Veterans Memorial Public Library, Bismarck
The U-Mary Music Department's annual Fall Chamber Ensemble Concert will include performances by the University Trombone Quartet, Percussion Ensemble, Brass Quartet and Trumpet Quartet. This free concert will feature a wide array of musical styles, including student compositions. These ensembles also will present a free Concert for Kids Saturday morning in the Children's Story Room on the library's main floor.
