Military Ovation Presents U-Mary Athletics Department With First
Think Globally, Act Locally Award

On Aug. 2, 2012, Military Ovation, a North Dakota organization supporting the military, veterans and their families, presented its Think Globally, Act Locally award to the
U-Mary Athletics Department. Named to reflect Military Ovation's founding philosophy, the monthly award recognizes businesses and individuals that go above and beyond in support of military service members in and from North Dakota. "We are honored to give our first award to the University of Mary Athletics Department for its unrelenting support for the military and for our organization," said Military Ovation CEO/President Shelle Michaels Aberle.
U-Mary led the way in the Treats for the Troops this past year, producing 1,300-dozen cookies for the Christmas holidays, and hosting basketball, football, and baseball military appreciation game days and other fundraisers and events, including a baseball game silent auction benefiting Military Ovation. Be Part Of Saturday's Guatemala Riverbank Run And Help U-Mary Physical Therapy Students Help Others
The community is invited to participate in the Guatemala Riverbank Run, a 5K/10K/1-mile family run on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, in Sertoma Park. Registration begins at 7 a.m., with the 10K starting at 8 a.m., the 5K at 8:30 a.m., and the 1-mile run/walk, at 9 a.m. The Dakota River Runners and the University of Mary Physical Therapy class of 2013 organized the Guatemala Riverbank Run to help raise funds for the Doctor of Physical Therapy students traveling to Guatemala in October 2012 with the God's Child Project. opportunity to get out on the links with other basketball alumni and Marauders supporters, meet the 2012-2013 team, and raise funds for U-Mary men's basketball. The event will begin with lunch at noon, followed by a four-person scramble at

Fans And Friends Turn Out In Force For July Marauders Golf Tourney
Forty-one alum were among the more than 120 U-Mary friends and supporters who turned out for the 18th annual Marauders Golf Tournament on Friday, July 27, at Hawktree Golf Club. With 32 teams participating, first net honors went to Brennan Quintus, '08 & '09; Jeff Tescher; Zach Dosch, '08 & '10; and Scott Ritter, '07 & '11. First gross team members were: Cody Berger; Brandon Wilkins; Nate Folk, '10; and Justin Roness. Fargo Alum! Mark Your Calendars For The Second Annual Alumni Social
The Winery Wine and Food Cafe in Fargo, ND, will be the site of the second annual Fargo-Moorhead area Alumni Networking Social on Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $5 for alum and $7 for non-alum. It includes two free drink tickets redeemable for wine or non-alcoholic beverages and free appetizers - you may even win a door prize! Homecoming 2012 Reception To Feature The ZuZu Band
Get in the Homecoming spirit at the U-Mary 2012 Alumni Homecoming Reception on Friday, Sept. 21, at the Kelly Inn in Bismarck. Catch up with friends and enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres, while dancing to popular local variety band ZuZu, from 9 p.m. to midnight. Admission is free to alum - watch your mail for details.

Community Bowl Renovation Kicks Off
The Protect Our Turf Committee, Bismarck Community Bowl Authority, MDU Resources Group and community leaders broke ground July 10, 2012, to officially commemorate the renovation project at the Community Bowl, the home of University of Mary football, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's track and field. MED-secondary administration alum Cheryl E. Kalberer, '90, has been tapped to serve as co-lead of the ND Action Coalition Future of NursingTM Campaign for Action. Campaign members also include also include Dr. Glenda Reemts, '90, MSN, and Billie Madler, '01, MSN, FNP. Link to news story
