Posting record-setting performances in the 800- and 1,500-meter runs at the U-Mary-hosted NSIC outdoor championships, Marauders Melissa Agnew was later named 2012 NSIC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.
Marauders Dominate NSIC Championships On Home Track
As the University of Mary hosted its first-ever NSIC championship - the 2012 Northern Sun Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, on May 11-12 - the Marauders women's track and field team rolled to its fourth title in six seasons. Melissa Agnew headlined the Marauders efforts by setting two conference records at the meet, and Melissa Walker added two individual titles. The men's squad finished fourth to improve four slots from a year ago, the biggest increase in the nation! Over 600 student-athletes from the NSIC participated as 11 women's teams and nine men's squads competed for the conference crowns.

Commencement 2012 Sets Records For Number Of Graduates And Degrees Presented
On Saturday, April 28, the University of Mary, America's Leadership University, recognized 1,043 graduates with a total of 1,113 degrees, at its 2012 commencement. It was the second straight year that the number of degrees awarded in a given year surpassed 1,000 and the largest graduating class in the university's history - up from a record 990 in 2011. More >>

University Of Mary And Military Ovation To Sponsor Ronald McDonald Care Mobile In Support Of The Military Child
U-Mary is partnering with Military Ovation, a new support organization, to sponsor Ronald McDonald Care Mobile visits to area communities, bringing free dental care to children of military families. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a mobile dental clinic on wheels that delivers needed dental care to children ages 0-21 in Western North Dakota. Children of active duty and Guard/Reserve military, veterans and pregnant military spouses will have the opportunity to receive free dental work including cleanings, x-rays, light cavity work and extractions. The mobile clinic's first stop was an April visit to Bismarck, which was also sponsored by the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee, in honor of April being the Month of the Military Child. The clinic will be in Minot, ND, from June 18-22, and Dickinson, ND, from July 9-13. More>>
U-Mary Campus Read Presents Fundraiser Check To Bismarck Cancer Center
The University of Mary's Campus Read program raised over $2,200 for the Bismarck Cancer Center. The center, a cooperative venture between St. Alexius Medical Center and Medcenter One, was selected by the Campus Read committee for this year's fundraising effort because of the relationship of its mission to the 2011-2012 Campus Read, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Experts Bring Insights & Discussion To U-Mary; Bioethics Seminar Series To Resume In September
The Bioethical Challenges of Our Times seminar series brings together clergy, health care and legal professionals, and interested individuals from throughout the region and addresses many challenging issues. Sessions will help shed light and understanding as well as spawn lively discussion from participants regarding bioethics. Each session will have a new topic with a world-renowned expert in medical ethics from the National Catholic Bioethics Center (NCBC) in Philadelphia, PA.
