Experts To Bring Insight & Discussion To U-Mary, As Bioethics Seminar Series Debuts Jan. 20-21
Health care professionals, legal professionals and clergy frequently grapple with serious ethical issues such as stem cell research, cloning, and euthanasia. The Bioethical Challenges of Our Times seminar series will bring together these and interested individuals from throughout the region and address many challenging issues. Sessions will help shed light and understanding as well as spawn lively discussion from participants regarding bioethics. Each session will have a new topic with a world-renowned expert in medical ethics from the National Catholic Bioethics Center (NCBC) in Philadelphia. While the presenters are from a Catholic organization, the content is relevant to individuals from all backgrounds. The first session is Friday and Saturday, Jan. 20 and 21, 2012, in the Matt & JoAnn Butler Hall at the Gary Tharaldson School of Business. It will feature guest speaker Father Tad Pacholczyk, who has Ph.D. in neuroscience from Yale University. More>>

Enjoy a great evening of music with the U-Mary jazz and vocal jazz ensembles and guest artists Jeremy Allen (jazz bass), Luis Bonilla (trombone), Stephen Futrell and Kirby Shaw (vocals), Chris Merz (saxophone), Amy Rempel (piano), and Mike Waldrop (percussion). U-Mary Honored With Soldiers' Angels Award
The University of Mary was recently recognized with the Crystal Angel Award from Soldiers' Angels, a national volunteer-led organization providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States military. The award, presented to Marauders Athletic Director Roger Thomas and Assistant Athletic Director Mike Offerdahl, was for U-Mary's efforts to go "above and beyond the call of angels in supporting our military personnel." Offerdahl spearheaded the recent "Treats for the Troops" cookie fundraiser that provided 1,121 dozen cookies for military members. Marauders athletics also recently held Military Appreciation Weekend.

Pre-Service Teachers To Hold Free Camp For K-3 Students & Families
University of Mary Student North Dakota Education Association (SNDEA) pre-service teachers will hold Camp Ready Child, a free one-day family camp for students in grades K-3 on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the AMVETS Post 9 Club in Bismarck. The focus of Camp Ready Child is on providing a fun and educational day for local elementary school students as well as on educating parents about the North Dakota Education Association (NDEA) Ready Child Initiative and the importance of literacy.
