Dr. Nita Wirtz, PhD, CC-AASP, ABSP
Current Position: Adjunct Faculty within the Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology Departments, School of Health Sciences, University of Mary, Bismarck, ND and Associate Professor of Psychology at Bismarck State College.
Dr. Wirtz received her B.Ed. in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation with additional coursework in Athletic Training and is a licensed ND Educator. Her M.S. and PhD in Psychology, specializing in Sport Psychology, were both earned from Capella University, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She is professional member of the National Education Association, American Psychology Association and APA Division 47. Wirtz earned her national Certified Consultant status with the Association of Applied Sport Psychology in 2015, became part of the US Olympic Committee sport psychology registry in 2016, and is also a board member with the American Board of Sport Psychology.
In her spare time, Wirtz provides consulting services in all aspects of performance from the classroom to the playing field and the workplace, performs research including conceptualizing a grounded theory for traumatic athletic injury recovery, entitled the Sport Injury Return Involving Trauma (SPIRIT) theory, as a part of her 2014 published dissertation, writes materials for classroom and future publishing, has engaged in public speaking for the past 15 years.
