Since this is a federally funded program, students may be selected based on the following criteria:

1. Students must have completed the eighth grade.They must be between the ages 13 and 19.
2. Students must show potential and motivation to be successful in education beyond high school.
3. The student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent                         resident of the United States.
4. Neither the student's parent nor legal guardian(s) may have graduated from a four-year college/university.
5. The participant must meet certain income requirements            established by the federal government.
