Boniface Hall

Residence Director: Anne Marie Werthmann

Anne Marie Werthmann has been the residence director in Boniface Hall (including Boniface "Riverview") since first arriving at the university in August of 2005. From 2005 to 2007, she also served as the coordinator of the student activities committee. In 2007, she took on a new assignment, coordinating the university's special activities program. She also assists the director of student life with student conduct.

Werthmann earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Wells College, a women's college in New York. She has also completed a year of graduate study, majoring in counseling psychology. Growing up as a "military brat," Werthmann moved around a lot. She enjoys reading, scrapbooking, traveling, and hanging out with friends. She also loves watching movies and has a large collection of them.

"I love how much the students I work with grow and change from year to year. It is neat to see how much more confident and sure of themselves and their choices they become," she says. "Every day is different; so there is always something new for them and me to learn from each other."

Boyle and Deichert Halls

Residence Director: Katharine Frantes

Katharine Frantes became the residence director of Boyle and Deichert Halls in August of 2007. She also serves as the coordinator of the student activities committee.

A native of Bismarck, Frantes is a graduate of Shilo Christian School.  After high school, she earned her degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth double-majoring in English and interdisciplinary (French) studies with a minor in professional writing and communication. While attending UM-Duluth, Frantes competed both cross country and track and field at the collegiate level.  She participated in intramurals, French Club and a Christian residence hall ministry program. Frantes speaks French fluently and has international experience having been employed one year in France and one year in Indonesia.  

Frantes is passionate about cultivating relationships among persons from diverse backgrounds. She looks forward to encouraging students to get involved in student activities. 

Hillside Hall

Annette Martel

Annette Martel joined the staff of the residence life/student life program in January of 2006. Her first role was as residence director of Greg Butler Hall when it was a women's residence. During this time she also served as the coordinator of multicultural and special activities.  In August of 2008, Martel made the move to Hillside Hall, becoming the residence director there when Hillside was converted from a men's residence to a women's residence. She also continues to serve as coordinator of Multicultural Activities.

Martel holds a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of North Dakota and a master's degree in college student services administration from Oregon State University. She grew up in North Dakota and has lived many places around the country. She enjoys art, music, reading, writing, traveling, and skiing. Her interests include social justice and diversity issues, especially as they pertain to higher education.

"I love helping students find what they are passionate about and providing opportunities for them to put that interest to work to make a positive impact in their communities and the world," she says.
 

Greg Butler Hall Residence Director

Dirk Wilke has served as a residence director at the university since August of 2005. For two years he was the residence director in Hillside Hall when it was a men's residence. In August of 2007, he became the residence director of Greg Butler Hall when Hillside was made into a women's residence and Greg Butler became a men's residence. Since August of 2005, Wilke has also served as the coordinator of student organizations and the advisor for student government. 

Wilke is a graduate of the University of Mary where he completed a bachelor's degree in communications. Before returning to Mary, he earned his juris doctorate from the University of North Dakota School of Law. He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the University of Mary.

Originally from Helena, MT, Wilke enjoys playing and watching sports and is a nine-time intramural champ at the University of Mary. In his spare time, he is working on writing a movie and TV show.

"I enjoy their passion and desire to experience new things while discovering themselves."

North Hall 

Residence Director: Beth Bicknese

Beth Bicknese joined the residence life/student life staff in September of 2007. She serves as the residence director in North Hall and she also coordinates the university's intramural and fitness program.

Bicknese is graduate of North Dakota State University where she completed a bachelor of science degree in recreation management with a therapeutic recreation emphasis and wellness minor. She has prior experience working in health care settings.

Bicknese is committed to wellness and enjoys both bicycling and running. She is passionate about helping students develop a healthy lifestyle that includes balance between work, rest, and play.
