Wednesday, Feb. 6 Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday initiates the first day of Lent, a time when Christians begin their spiritual preparation for the celebration of Easter by striving to become more faithful followers of Christ. All U-Mary students, faculty, and staff are invited to begin their Lenten journey together as community by participating in the special Ash Wednesday Eucharistic Liturgy. This liturgy will include the ancient Christian rite of marking the foreheads of the faithful with ashes in the form of a cross,while being reminded of one's mortality.You need not be Catholic to participate in this beautiful rite. All are welcome!
10 a.m. - All-University Eucharistic Liturgy with the distribution of
ashes in Our Lady of the Annunciation Chapel.
9 p.m. - Praise the Lord (PTL) interdenominational contemporary
praise, worship, and faith sharing in O'Keeffe Hall
Thursday, Feb. 7 Prayer Day
10 to 11a.m. - Registration for Prayer Day in McDowell Activity
Center. Prayer Day is free for all U-Mary students,
faculty, and staff. There is a $10 registration fee for
the public, which includes lunch.
11 a.m. - Prayer Day Keynote Speaker Immaculee Ilibagiza
tells Part 1 of her story in the McDowell Activity Center.
12 Noon - Lunch
Students, faculty, and staff are asked to take their
lunch in the cafeterias.
Off-campus Prayer Day guests will be served in the
Leach Field House, which is connected to the McDowell
Activity Center by tunnel.
1 p.m. - Prayer Day Keynote Speaker Immaculee Ilibagiza
continues with Part 2 of her story in the McDowell
Activity Center.
2:15 p.m. - Prayer Day concludes with Bishop Paul Zipfel
celebrating the Eucharist in the McDowell Activity
Center.
9 p.m. - Stations of the Cross in Benet Chapel
9 p.m. -11 p.m. - Benet Chapel is open for prayer and meditation
(immediately following Stations of the Cross).
