As a unique and growing field, the health care industry has its own technology, communication, and economic leadership issues. Adult students in the health care MBA program will have the opportunity to master application of knowledge about health delivery systems, health policy, health administration, leadership communication, finance, and economics in a best practices format for learning.

In addition to the foundation and core courses, the adult student enrolls in the following courses which are focus content for the MBA in health care.

Curriculum

MGT 670 Community-Focused Health Systems
Analysis of the need for and the methods required to achieve an integrated community-focused health care system. Examination of characteristics of the challenges to emerging community health systems and the elements of successful alliances in community-based integrated health programs.
3 credits

NUR 648 Health Care Law and Policy
Examination of ways in which health care services are organized and delivered, the influences on health care public policy decisions, factors that determine the allocation of health care resources and the establishment of priorities, and the relationship of health care costs to measurable benefits.
3 credits

MGT 505 Human Resources Management
Analysis of description of jobs, recruitment and selection programs, and appraisal performance.
3 credits

MGT 653 Managed Care Organizations & Finance
Analysis of managed care with emphasis on organizational models and financing mechanisms. The evolution of corporate health care and managed care is traced and contrasted with traditional health care models and indemnity insurance.
3 credits

MGT 695 Strategic Decision Making in Health Care
Integration and blending of knowledge gained in advanced nursing and business management courses.
