Bismarck, ND--Matt Maher (pronounced Mar) has taken the world by storm and is regarded as a "phenomenon" in the music industry. He has gone from a relatively unknown youth music minister at St.Timothy Parish in Tempe, AZ, to one of the world's most popular Christian artists. Maher's newest album "Empty and Beautiful," released in April of 2008, has reached No. 55 on the iTunes chart and No. 2 on the Christian and Gospel Album chart. Now the University of Mary, America's Leadership University, welcomes Maher to its 2009 Prayer Day celebration entitled "Prayer and the Art of Living." The public is invited to attend Maher's concert for free (no registration necessary) Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m., in the McDowell Activity Center.
"[Maher's] prayerful music has energized events around the world, from World Youth Days and national conventions to local concerts," said Kristi Wanner, director of Campus Ministry at the University of Mary. "People of this region are in for a real uplifting treat. We are blessed to be able to have him share his gifts with us for a two-day celebration."
Maher's Prayer Day presentation is Thursday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. in the Activity Center. University of Mary students will be admitted free to Thursday's event. For others, registration may be completed at the Activity Center beginning at 10 a.m. However, we strongly recommend that you pre-register beginning Oct. 1, 2008, so we may better accommodate you (http://www.umary.edu/prayerday).
