HSL 110 Developing the Leader Within You 
This course is designed to help Emerging Leaders Academy students to begin their personal journey toward leadership. The primary focus will be to consider and identify the personal leadership qualities and professional skills through careful self-assessment. Students will practice both leadership and professionalism through planned interaction with leaders in the education profession.

HSL 120 Principles, Values and Ethics 
This course provides a foundation for students to explore their own values system to enhance their understanding of themselves and others. Students will gain insight into their own beliefs, clarify factors that shape values, identify and appreciate beliefs of others to anticipate and minimize potential conflicts. On-site observations of educational cultures will be provided.

HSL 210 Communication and Team-Building
Students will explore the importance of communication and team-building in educational leadership. Collaborative problem-solving utilizing personal interviews, data collection, and technology will elaborate upon the team-building concept.

HSL 220 Servant Leadership 
Focused on stakeholders in education, students, parents, and community, this course asks students to recognize the role of the community at large in education. It also emphasizes the importance of diversity issues and true servant leadership in today's educational systems.

HSL 310 Instructional Leadership 
This course introduces the student to best leadership practices by classroom teachers, administrators, coordinators, and others in the field of education. Students will use reflective thinking to evaluate best practices and develop their personal expectations for their roles as future educational leaders.

HSL 320 Innovative Thinking 
This course challenges the student to develop entrepreneurship qualities as a future educational leader. Special emphasis on modeling and leading change will be given.

HSL 410 Personal Definition of Leadership 
This culminating course requires the future educational leader to articulate their personal definition of leadership as determined and developed through the Harold Schafer Leadership program.
