Facilities

The University of Mary recognizes the important role athletics plays in the character development of young men and women. As a complement to the outstanding athletes at U-Mary, the school offers 19 varsity sports teams and top-of-the-line facilities.

The Leach Fieldhouse, completed in 2000, serves as a center for student activities. It houses three full-size basketball courts, a climbing wall, two batting cages, and a 160-meter track. All sports use the facility.

The fitness center is a popular place for getting in shape on the U-Mary campus.

The McDowell Activity Center is home to U-Mary's volleyball and basketball teams.

The Richard A. Tschider Center for Health Sciece, a $1.8 million expansion and remodeling project, will be completed in August 2006. The center will include a 4,000-square-foot weight room, locker room, offices, conference room, classrooms, meeting rooms, and storage facilities. The center also will be the headquarters for the physical therapy program and the athletic training program.

The Bismarck Community Bowl, completed in 1997, seats 7,000; has a jumbo tron screen; and is the home field for the Marauder football and track and field teams. U-Mary's soccer and softball teams also compete at this facility. The jumbo tron screen shows instant replays and spotlights student athletes.

Hegeholz Field is located on U-Mary's campus and serves as the practice facility for the track and field teams.

The Marauder football team's indoor practice facility is located in north Bismarck. The facility also includes two batting cages.

The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome is located in Minneapolis, MN, and is the home of the Minnesota Vikings (NFL), Minnesota Twins (MLB), and the NSIC Metrodome Classic. The Marauder football team will compete in the NSIC Metrodome Classic, against Northern State, Aberdeen, on Nov. 11, 2006.

Many students follow the St. Alexius Human Performance Center Frappier Acceleration Program, designed to improve an individual's performance.
