Collegeville, MN – After placing in five of the six open matches he had competed in this year, Aric Tarr picked up his first title this season at the North Country Open. The freshman from Columbia Falls, MT, finished the tournament unbeaten in three matches, defeating St. John’s Tim Thompson 9-1 for a major decision to win the 133-pound title.

Kevin McCleary followed up a third place finish at the Jimmie Open a week ago with a second place crown this week at 285. The freshman from Napoleon, ND, finished the tournament 1-1.

Placing third in the 184-pound weight division was Kurt Wiedrich, a freshman from Williston, ND. He finished with a 2-1 record, pinning Chris Perez of Minnesota State – Moorhead at 2:23 in the final match.
