Lincoln, NE – Entering the season, one of the longest-held records in U-Mary men’s indoor track was the shotput mark, established 16 years ago. Now it’s the newest record on the book, broken twice in the last week.
After breaking the school shot put record last week, Josh Obrigewitch, the junior from Bismarck, ND, shattered his own mark at the Husker Open. His toss of 56’ 5” was 10.5 inches longer than his record-breaking toss of a week ago. It was also good enough for a fourth-place finish in a 35-team meet hosted by NCAA Division I University of Nebraska.
Four Marauders placed on the women’s side of the Husker Open. Destinee Keller, a junior from Beulah, ND, placed tenth in the triple jump with an effort of 37 feet 10 inches. She was 17th in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet 7.75 inches. Freshman Cassie Blazer (Mandan, ND) finished 11th in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:09.53. Junior Hanna Moen (Galesburg, ND) placed 13th in the 800 meter run in 2:18.17. Olivia Friestad, a senior from Rugby, ND, was 13th in the triple jump with a distance of 36 feet 3 inches.
Five NCAA Division I women’s teams and four men’s ranked in the Trackwire Top 25 competed in the meet.
