Moorhead, MN - At the close of day one of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference outdoor track and field championships, the University of Mary is poised to make a run for the women’s conference championship. After eight events, the women’s team has compiled 66 points, second behind the host and defending champion Dragons of Minnesota State University Moorhead.
On the men’s side, the Marauders are in sixth place with 15 team points.
Two Marauders won individual titles on the first day. Destinee Keller narrowly nudged out teammate Kayla Campbell in the long jump, 18-08.5 to 18-07.75. Amanda Krahler won the javelin throw with a toss of 136-01.
The top day one finisher for the men was Travis Grenz, who placed second in the javelin with a distance of 172-08.
The NSIC Outdoor Championships will conclude on Saturday, May 12.
