Omaha, NE – The University of Mary squared off against NCAA Division I Creighton University in a women’s soccer exhibition game and the Marauders fought their way to a scoreless tie against the Bluejays.
“I thought we played quite well defensively,” said U-Mary head coach Levi Evans. “We were solid and did what we needed to be done. Offensively we still need to do some work. I’m excited for us to implement what we learned this weekend.”
U-Mary, starting its first year as an active NCAA D2 member, limited Creighton to just three shots on goal. The Marauders had one shot on goal, that by junior forward and returning all-NSIC performer Jessica Janusz (Bismarck, ND).
In goal, sophomore Carly Feiler (Pierre, SD) made two saves in the first half. Junior keeper Brannigan Coyle (Minot, ND) made one save in the second half to preserve the exhibition tie.
A young side, the Marauders started three freshmen against the Bluejays: forward Megan Wilson (Hickory Corners, MI) and defenders Markelle Gallagher (Graham, WA) and Megan Hellrung (Arvada, CO).
