I am an associate professor in the University of Mary's Department of Music, where I teach applied voice, lyric diction, vocal pedagogy, and ear training. A native of North Dakota, I am a past winner of the National Metropolitan Opera Auditions and was awarded a career grant from the National Institute for Opera. I made my New York recital debut at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, having won the prestigious Joy in Singing Competition. I performed several leading roles including the role of the mother in the University of Mary's production of "Amahl and the Night Visitors." I have worked with such noted teachers and conductors, as Anton Coppola, Nico Castel, Joan Dornemann, Jean Kraft, Henry Lewis, Emma Small, and Richard Woitach.

My first CD, “Be Thou My Vision,” was released in 1996.

After having had an active performing career, I recently completed a master's degree in speech-language pathology at Minot State University. I received a Graduate Award of Excellence for Academic Achievement, specializing in the field of speaking and singing voice rehabilitation. Prior to accepting a position in the University of Mary’s Department of Music, I worked in an area hospital stroke rehabilitation unit and had a private voice studio.

On Servant-Leadership . . .
Servant-leadership is just being kind to others; an awareness that we are all equal, and with no sense of being called a leader. By living life with compassionate action, we may move others to do the same.
