I began my full-time position in the Division of Education in 2000, when I was hired to teach elementary and early childhood education courses. Since that time, I have assumed the position of elementary education coordinator. My undergraduate duties include teaching classroom management to students pursuing an elementary or secondary education degree and social studies methods and materials. I also coordinate and supervise the beginning and advanced practicum field experiences for elementary education preservice teachers. At the graduate level, I teach the course Teaching Reading in the Content Area and several courses in early childhood education.

On Teaching . . .

"To teach is to empower students to enhance their lives by embodying a love of learning, a sense of pride in their accomplishments, and a knowing and confidence that what they pursue or dream about can make a difference in the world, no matter where they are. Our challenge as instructors in the Division of Education is to instill a belief in our students that all things will be possible if they persevere, that no problem is so great that it cannot be overcome, and their life’s journey will be richer because they have been students in the Division of Education at the University of Mary."
