On Servant Leadership...
An important aspect of nursing education is to maintain a balance between facilitating student learning while promoting quality community health care. In order to maintain this balance, teaching strategies need to be responsive to both the educational needs of the students and to the service needs of the community. Therefore, I as an instructor must not only teach, but act as a mentor to students by assessing the community's needs, act with the knowledge of current practices in health care, and build community partnerships. Servant Leadership teaches students not only to lead by example, but how when we touch the life of an individual, we impact the community.
