I started teaching accounting at the University of Mary in the fall of 2007. My prior business experience includes 13 years in private industry, where I was corporate controller for a publicly traded, S&P Mid-Cap 400 company, as well as four years as a financial manager for a U.S. Air Force Ballistic Missile production program in California.
In my capacity as corporate controller, one of my responsibilities was the corporate-wide implementation of documentation, testing, monitoring and reporting processes and standards related to internal controls over financial reporting required by Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. In addition, I directed and coordinated the preparation of the company’s consolidated financial forecasts and developed forward-looking financial guidance included in periodic news releases and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings. I also collaborated in the drafting and review of annual and quarterly financial reports, including SEC financial reports on forms 10-K and 10-Q. Additionally, I traveled to New York with the executive team to communicate the company’s financial performance and forecasts to credit rating agencies, Wall Street stock analysts, and others in the investment community.
In addition to an accounting major, I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in French and Political Science. My husband, Tom, and I have one son, Sam. I enjoy spending time with family, reading, doing crossword puzzles, quilting, and being physically active.
