Programs of Study

We offer Bachelor of Science degrees the following areas:
  • K-12 Vocal/Instrumental Music Education
  • K-12 Vocal Music Education
  • K-12 Instrumental Music Education

        Graduates of these programs are certified to teach elementary 
        music, as well as instrumental music (band), and/or vocal music
        (choir).

We offer a Bachelor of Arts degree in 

  • Music Performance

        Graduates with this degree often combine this major with 
        a music education degree or another area of study. This 
        degree does not lead to a certificate to teach music (K-12) in 
        the schools.

We also offer a minor in music, which is designed to enhance a student's academic and personal interest in music. Students from any major may participate in any music ensembles for credit.

Major in Music Performance – Bachelor of Arts
: MUS 121, 122, 123, 124, 196, 221, 222, 223, 224, 262, 323, 341, 342, 371 or 372, 471 or 472; one pedagogy course in area of emphasis; eight credits of performance ensemble; piano proficiency-level three; eight credits of performance lab; eight credits of applied music; and 16 credits of French or Spanish or a minor in philosophy/theology.

Major in K-12 Vocal Music Education Bachelor of Science: ENG 103; COM 109; MAT 103 or above; one lab science; MUS 121, 122, 123, 124, 132, 196, 221, 222, 223, 224, 232, 262, 321, 323, 341, 342, 362, 382, 383, 471 or 472; seven credits of applied music; seven credits of concert choir; piano proficiency–level four; eight credits of performance lab; EDU 201 or 202, 295, 301, 320, 411, 422, 434; SOC 102 or 202 or 304; PSY 201; PSY 207 or 332; ALU 499.
