Management

Bringing Servant-Leadership to Today's and
                        Tomorrow's Managers. . .

The University of Mary's accelerated Bachelor of Science in Management program provides the adult learner with:

  • Tools to lead and manage in an organizational context.
  • Credit for learning outside the classroom.
  • A program designed to fit your life.
  • Real-life application of new knowledge.

Mission

We provide a quality, accelerated, contemporary education for those seeking careers in enterprises requiring skills attained through competency-based education.

The University of Mary recognizes that you may have taken some college courses, but never have completed a degree. We have developed a program of study to meet that need at an accelerated pace. Through the management degree program, we will help you earn your bachelor's degree while minimizing the scheduling demands of a traditional program that often conflict with work and family.

Outcomes

The outcomes of the management degree program are to improve and further develop your ability to:

  • Use tools to lead and manage in an organizational context.
  • Demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
  • Practice problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Understand the information-gathering process and its application.
  • Utilize service as an important dimension of leadership.
  • Employ ethical decisions incorporating Benedictine values and the standards of the profession.

The management program provides adult students who enter the program with sufficient credit hours and work experience the opportunity to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in as few as 15 months. Classes taught in seminar style simulate the work-team experience, allowing for student participation and discussion. Class size is limited to 20 to ensure interaction between students and faculty.

The required 37 semester-hour core curriculum is composed of 12 courses and one organizational leadership seminar. The curriculum is integrated in nature, as opposed to a collection of 12 independent courses. The sequentially scheduled courses provide a melding process between classroom education and professional experiences. Students meet one night per week throughout the program. The syllabus distributed in a series of learner guides provides detailed assignments for each week. A minimum overall GPA of 2.0 is required.
