Bachelor of Science in Information Technology
The University of Mary's information technology degree is designed to prepare men and women for meaningful work, lifelong learning, and responsible, ethical involvement as servant-leaders in the community. The academic programs are designed to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills to function as information technology workers including: managers, system administrators, system analysts, and employees in related information technology fields.
The goals of the information technology degree program are to improve and further develop:
- Programming skills in an event-driven, object-oriented graphic environment
- Systems analysis and design skills for development of database-driven applications
- Understanding of client/server architectures and networking concepts
- Skills in designing and implementing Web sites
The University of Mary understands that while these skills are necessary to advance your career, you have additional responsibilities such as work and family. With that in mind, a practical program of study has been developed to meet those needs.
The program is designed to recognize your experience, match your career goals, and develop your technical knowledge and leadership skills. In addition, challenging academic standards consistent with the University of Mary are upheld while providing small-group interaction and instruction.
The curriculum is integrated in nature; it is not a collection of independent courses. Each course is scheduled sequentially, and students meet from 6 p.m.-10 p.m., one night per week for the 18 months of the program. The curriculum will be distributed in a series of learner guides with detailed assignments for each week. This helps you plan around your busy life and work schedule. |
