Nov 2

Today the group visited the malnutrition center in San Juan. Our primary purpose was to play, hold, and cuddle children who otherwise do not get much attention besides their basic needs. The children were all amazingly beautiful. However, it is notable that they were all way too well behaved and quiet. We would not see many 2 and 3 year olds who would be perfectly content to sit on your lap for hours at a time in the US. I also met some older children who did not actually know how old they were (probably 8 to 10 years old). It is sad to think that they do not know much of a world outside the walls of the center. We were able to provide several hours of fun for them and left the many donations people back home generously donated.

Tomorrow our group will be splitting with half going to Tikal to view the Mayan ruins and the other half to Panajachel and Chichicastenengo. On Monday we will begin building 4 houses.
