Master of Management

The accelerated Master of Management program provides adult students the opportunity to complete a graduate degree in as few as 15 months while continuing to work. Classes are taught in seminar style, allowing for student participation and discussion and immediate application in the workplace. You learn from one another as you develop new management skills. Students meet one night per week for the 15 months of the program. Class size is limited to ensure interaction between students and faculty and to maintain high academic standards consistent with the University of Mary.

Curriculum

MGT 503 – Management Theory and Application
Apply theories of management to guide and direct people toward the attainment of organizational goals.
3 credits

MGT 645 – Organizational Communication and Change Management
Relate communication theories to management theories, analyze the flow and effectiveness of communication in organizations, and develop effective change management plans.
3 credits

PHI 572 – Ethics
Perceive, analyze and assess systems of values. Maintain ethical standards in a professional environment.
3 credits

PSY 542 – Group Dynamics
Develop skills in negotiation, conflict resolution and group leadership.
3 credits

MGT 555 – Managerial Finance
Analyze the relationship of the financial manager, the manager’s organization, the financial markets and the tax environment.
3 credits

MGT 505 – Human Resource Management
Analyze and describe jobs, develop effective recruiting and selection programs and appraise performance.
3 credits

MGT 535 – Economics
Analyze such data as unemployment, inflation, the GNP and its components, and other economic indicators.
3 credits

MGT 635 – Law in the Management Environment
The judicial process with an emphasis on the court system, jurisdiction, constitutional and statutory law, as well as alternative disputes resolution techniques.
3 credits

MGT 610 – Marketing
Analyze activities that satisfy customer needs through production, placement, promotion, packaging and pricing of goods, services, and ideas. Enables managers to explore target markets, product and service mixes and marketing environments.
3 credits

MGT 600 – Seminar
Students are assigned to work as a consulting team with an actual organization and analyze the organization’s strengths and its opportunities for improvement.
3 credits

Electives Include:

MGT 575 – Information Systems for Managers
Analyze organizational information systems. Apply a systems approach to problem-solving.  Increase knowledge of computerized management tools.
3 credits

MGT 605 – Managerial Accounting
Analysis of financial data and use of the results to make wise business decisions. Enables managers to better control valuable resources and more accurately predict the cost of future business ventures.
