Planning, organizing, controlling user services, and managing the system development process are addressed in this course. You will develop basic information system specifications and requirements. Application of IS plans to organizational needs will be expanded through case studies and exercises.

This course focuses on the essential elements of information systems development, including technological, organizational, and interpersonal environments that impact an IS project. Emphasis is on the importance of IS supporting the vision, mission, strategic plan, goals, and objectives of an organization.

CIS 642 Network Management
This course will address the fundamental concepts of the network environment, technological strengths and weaknesses of various networking solutions, and future directions of the network environment. Infrastructure (fiscal, physical, and personnel) elements will be examined in establishing, supporting, and extending a network environment.

Data modeling, systems development, data administration, and security will be studied as necessary components of database management. System analysis techniques will be applied to the database environment. Application of this discipline to meet organizational needs will be done through case studies.

It is the first step in the process of bringing about change in an organization. This course will address strategic planning with a special emphasis on the problems and complexities faced in the rapidly changing world of information technology. During this course, you will survey new technologies and assess their impact on business opportunities.

CIS 646 Enterprise Architecture and Planning
This course discusses enterprise architectures as they relate to the broad decisions that must be made by an organization as it creates its organizational information support system. The course focuses on identifying the organization’s vision, analyzing the current position, defining future capabilities, and planning the migration from the current to the future. Included will be discussions of information architecture, systems architecture, data architecture, client server computing, and distributed databases. You also will look at how to design LANs, WANs, and directory services to support the strategic plan of the organization.

CIS 647 Business Process Re-Engineering
Business process re-engineering means not only change, but dramatic change. This course will examine the project management tools and methodologies needed to successfully accomplish the overhaul of organizational structures, management systems, employee responsibilities and performance measurements, incentive systems, skills development, and the use of information technology.

Analysis of current trends in health care policy, with a focus on health care financing, state and federal health policy and strategies for influencing systems change.

An analysis of managed care with emphasis on organizational models and financing mechanisms. The evolution of corporate health care and managed care is traced and contrasted with traditional health care models and indemnity insurance. Managed care infrastructure and networks are analyzed with relationships among access, cost, and quality explicated.

Explores the major laws affecting health care in the United States. The systems from which laws flow are studied, and the interaction of professional standards and legal prescriptions are examined.
